This piece was composed in 2022 as a reflection during a tumultuous time in my life. Evening begins with distant chimes that fade in and out of attention, almost like wind chimes (imagine a park near a house on a windy day). The wind is ambiguous. It represents the unknown. What enters from this suspense is a familiar tune in an unfamiliar context, “hesitant, as if finding the way.” Movement II, Morning, ushers in a new day with a chorale in a new key. The music rises and becomes more confident. All at once, it is “time to go.” The child, of course, does not want to go.
