This work was commissioned by the Memorial Art Gallery of Rochester, New York and the Eastman Composition Department. The work draws inspiration from David Hockney’s 15 Canvas Study of the Grand Canyon (1998), and was premiered at the gallery with the artwork. An additional second movement was added later that semester to round out the work.
