Hagues Peak, a mountain in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain State Park, is faintly visible on a clear day from a section of the freeway west of Laramie, Wyoming —a distance of about 60 miles. Viewed at sunset, the mountain takes on purplish-blue hues. In the piece, we begin with observer alone. As the mountain becomes clearer, the colors slowly fade in before eventually disappearing again behind the shadow and into the night.
